HERE TO MAKE POSITIVE IMPACT

About us

Abound and Flourish is motivated by the application of science to transform lives. Learning from the natural world and bringing insights from a faith based perspective to care for one another and the planet.

Abound and Flourish is a not-for-profit company set up to promote the wellbeing of individuals and healthy communities.

We have started with developing a 12 week life course Living Fruitfully which uses science and positive psychology to support positive changes people wish to make in their lives. We are committed to this because we have experienced the changes it is possible to make in our own lives by adopting some of these approaches. Our approach is based on a biopsychosocial and spiritual model in line with growing recent research and practice. It is however not religious in content and is open to those of any faith or none.

Healthy communities enable networks of good connection. Healthy environments make it easier for people to be well. We will work with partners towards helping form a network of possible great connections, opportunities and a healthy environment.

Meet the Team

Dr Elizabeth Lunt

I am a GP with an interest in lifestyle medicine and prevention of ill-heath. Personally, I love to walk, and enjoy walking the coastal paths as well as the mountains. Enjoying live music and food with friends is one of my joys in life. I am a Christian and involvement in the broader community has been an important part of my life. All of this helps me to keep well. I am passionate about the root causes of health and love to see local communities thriving in a myriad of diverse ways. I hope to see a healthy environment where people find it easier to make healthy choices leading to healthy communities.

I am the CEO of an addictions charity that helps individuals recover and rebuild their lives after a long history of addiction. For the past 25 years I have been fascinated by the nature of change and how it is possible to encourage, support and sustain change in individuals, families and communities. I love the potential that is released when we collaborate jointly to tackle difficult issues so that we not only flourish but thrive. Abound and Flourish does just this in that it offers practical ways to apply understanding, wisdom and insight for the benefit of all but underpinned by the natural systems we see in nature.

I am a psychiatric nurse with many years of experience in child and adolescent mental health. Advances in scientific research have highlighted the importance of the first years in a child’s life. Providing early support to families with young children is powerful and has the potential to prevent more serious emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties later in life. As a clinician, I have witnessed how early, often small interventions can make a huge difference to whole families. I feel passionate about prevention of physical and mental health difficulties. This requires an environment that provides families with opportunities to build and strengthen healthy relationships within and outside the family. Caring, responsive relationships are of vital importance not only for children’s development but for family and community health.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Ebbsfleet and surrounding areas in the next 10 years

Locally we have existing communities as well as those moving into new communities with a need to create new links. There are activities and opportunities which can provide a hub or focus around which the lives of those living in the area could benefit. Underpinning all of this are our core values (Discover, Connect and Grow) as well as scientific understanding of community development and health. It will be great to see a spectrum of activities and opportunities for individuals and their families, meeting current need and offering hope for their future. Key elements linked to well-being would be a focus around food – growing, sharing and cooking whole foods, enjoying nature, learning new skills, connecting with others, being active and caring for our planet, including volunteering opportunities.
