Introduction
Why the need to change?
UK stats: PHE 2020 report1: 26% UK men and 29% Uk women are obese – 1 in 3 adults – this has been increasing significantly.
The majority of adults in England in 2018 were overweight or obese (67% men and 60% women).
20% year 6 children classified as obese (but this is twice as high in the most deprived areas as it is the least deprived areas).
29% adults and only 18% children eat 5 or more fruit and veg a day.2
It’s not as simple as choices we make, when we are surrounded by a flood of poor quality food as well as marketing with people trying to make money out of us by selling us food that may lead to us becoming ill.
